Establishing the first Department of Applied Chinese on the island, our department keeps on elevating our department into a higher level. Over the past decade, we have recruited 12 associate professors, 7 assistant professors, and 1 instructors, and 17 of them have acquired doctorate degrees. Beside, to make our students get strong industrial sense, we have 2 assistant professor level specialis, 1 special visiting professor and 1 contract assistant professor who are full of experience from industry. As a result, our department has become one of the departments with the best faculty.

Ms Liao has dedicated herself to teaching Chinese as a second language, specializing in Mandarin teaching materials and pedagogy, second language acquisition, and related skills.
By means of research and practical, hands-on experience teaching Chinese in the classroom, Ms Liao has accumulated a great deal of experience and achieved many of the career goals she set for herself.
Ms Liao is also committed to promoting greater cooperation among the various institutions that teach Mandarin Chinese.

His recent research interests include Chinese pedagogy, Chinese Pragmatics, the analysis on Chinese language on media and the Internet, Chinese language teaching via distance education, Teacher training for Chinese language teaching, and the development of pedagogical competence for Chinese language instruction.
