The main content of this course is the 16th to 37th form of Cheng Man-Ching Tai Chi Chuan 37 Forms, and will focus on combining with the first 15 forms into a full sequence of movements, with the body part as the direct medium, combining the practice of fist format, action design and actual operation. This course wishes that from the pactice of Tai Chi Chuan, students can understand and realize that Tai Chi not only helps students with both mental calmness and health benefits, but also helps form the lifelong exercise habit.

The main purpose of this course is to allow students to experience and develop interest in skiing, learn different kinds of exercise, promote both healthy and balanced psychological and physical well-being, increase communication skills and develop concepts of “lifelong exercise”. The course content contains knowledge of skiing, introduction of equipment needed and how to use them, practice of basic skiing skills, promotion of skiing experience etc. The course content will be designed in a multiple and interesting way, relevant to daily life, so that students will enjoy skiing and then get into habits of exercising.

FITNESS YOGA

On the basis of traditional yoga, Pilates and Taichi, this Yoga course for Physical Fitness introduces the concepts of motional anatomy, exercise physiology and physical fitness into each move in order to improve students’ understanding of each move. Moreover, through conscious breath stretches, students will adjust their emotions and relieve stress. Students will acquire the abilities to attentively and consciously control and maintain their balance while practicing each move and further boost their physical and mental states. The course will proceed with Hi-Lo and mixed aerobics to strengthen students’ cardio-respiratory capacity and facilitate their blood circulation.

JAPANESE CULTURE AND MARTIAL ARTS

This course is designed to help students learn and discuss traditional Sumo, Judo, Kendo, Aikido and other traditional martial arts which have evolved into modern Wu-Dao culture and become cultural heritage within modern Japanese society. The curriculum involves a historical review of the development of Sumo, Judo, Kendo, Aikido and other traditional martial arts. The changing process of them from traditional martial arts to modern sports and Wu-Dao culture will be analyzed and discussed. The teaching methods include not only handouts and discussions in order to guide students to formulate questions, but also actual learning of the foundation of martial arts for hand-on experiences. These methods will enhance students’ understanding and broadened vision of Japanese Wu-Dao culture.

The purpose of this course is to introduce the healthy concept of weight reduction and body sculpting, and train the students to understand the methods and key points of the muscular fitness training, through exercise physiology and primary sports anatomy, integrating with the knowledge of healthy physical fitness. By the connections of academic/practical operations and professional knowledge, to motivate the capability of the self strength training, and goal the target of muscular fitness improvement and lasting exercise.

OLYMPIC EDUCATION AND INTERNATIONAL SPORTS AFFAIRS

An introduction to Olympic Movement and Education helps students to understand the connotation of Olympics value. Through the presentation of Olympics structure and its international organizations, and the history of participation for Taiwan in the IOC, students will be able to understand what the Olympism is. Knowing the past, present and post period of “Olympic formula” will help student to perceive the status of Taiwan in international sports affairs and to enhance their horizon in international sports organizations.

This course aims to teach students the practical steps involved in organizing sporting competitions. SIMULATED SPORTS LOTTERY AND BASKETBALL EXPERIENCE

Neither prior knowledge of management no basketball skill is required, while enthusiasm in learning something new and useful is expected. This innovative co-teaching course is about motivating students’ strategic thinking thru simulated sports lottery on NBA games. Students are expected to learn how to diversify risks, make good decisions on investment by betting on the simulated lottery game. Over the course, students will be motivated to learn more about basketball games as well as spend more time on playing basketball. A pre-test and an end-of-term test on both basketball basic skill and knowledge of NBA games will be given, so as to build up ground work for inquiring the relation between performance on betting and what physical education on basketball might accomplish. A natural follow-up of this course will be Applied Game Theory, an elective course in the curriculum of International Business Administration, which takes a broad perspective, utilizes systematic strategic analysis, introduces games of simultaneous-move and sequential-move, and offers many simple game-theoretic experiments.
