Office of International and Cross-strait Cooperation

Wenzao is renowned for its foreign language education and has always put special emphasis on interaction with foreign educational institutions. In the early stage, major activities were limited to visiting colleges and universities, especially in Europe and America. Since Wenzao’s upgrading to university status in 2013, international activities and programs have become more diversified.

Faculty and students go abroad for academic purposes, while events of various kinds are regularly scheduled on campus, such as international seminars and overseas internship programs, exchange programs, and volunteering. Just as activities have turned out to be bilateral or multilateral, connection has crossed over to Latin America, the Pacific Rim and as far as Africa. So far, Wenzao has over 200 academic collaboration partners. However, we aim not merely at an increasing number of sister schools but also at the establishment of a substantial and long-term relationship with these schools. Based on the existing relationship, the Office of International and Cross-strait Cooperation (OICC) will keep promoting academic exchange activities. In the future, OICC will devote itself to cultivating global citizens, developing international cooperation projects with government agencies and industries, recruiting out standing students for overseas studies and international volunteer projects, offering joint-degree programs with partner schools, hosting annual Chinese Summer Program and providing information to attract foreign students to study at Wenzao, all in a view to shaping a campus with international characteristics.

Organisation

Section of General Services

The Section is mainly in charge of outbound exchange student program, Wenzao Desk Internship Program, short-term visits, international volunteer activities, and hosting international conferences. Moreover, this Section is responsible for government-funded projects related to international cooperation, scholarships for studying abroad as well.

Section of Cooperation and Exchange

The Section of Cooperation and Exchange coordinates all kinds of academic linkages and offers the platform for exploring areas of cooperation. We are committed to delivering and sustaining international partnerships as this strengthens our research and teaching collaboration, which ultimately enhances the quality of our academic programs. Through an active international network of selected universities and private/public institutions, we increase opportunities for faculty and student mobility. Our Section is instrumental in drafting policies, memorandum of understanding, dual degree or joint academic degree programs, and other institutional collaboration agreements. We assist in liaising and recommending to the Office of International and Cross-straits Cooperation matters regarding linkages, which covers student exchange, internships, short-and long-term faculty visits, and so forth. This involves ensuring a smooth process of collaboration from planning, drafting, executing to signing of the agreement by appointed signatories. Our Section is also responsible for the organization and management of travel itinerary for faculty and staff, and receiving foreign guests and visiting scholars. In addition, we extend our services to our partner institutions in promoting their international seminars, conferences, summer/winter camps, volunteer projects, etc. At present we have more than 250 partner schools worldwide. We are keen on creating and maintaining robust partnership programs, and dedicated to ensure the continuity of mutual collaboration between Wenzao and our partners.

Section of Overseas Student Affairs (SOSA)

SOSA serves all incoming and currently enrolled overseas students at the University. Our key role is to support your enrolment, course selection, academic studies, as well as organizing social activities and the buddy scheme. We also advise prospective students about our University’s academic programs, application process, scholarships, job prospects and student life.

Chinese Language Center

To meet the need for global communication in Chinese and to provide an excellent learning environment for international students and non-native speakers of Chinese, the Chinese Language Center aims to establish a channel between the Eastern and Western cultures based on language education. The courses cover both theory and practice and are conducted in small class environment. The integration of listening, speaking, reading and writing is fully applied under themes closely related to local life.
