Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages Holds the Spring Semester Orientation and Welcome Event for its Incoming International Exchange Students

On February 16th, 2023. Wenzao’s President Dr. Hwei-Lin Chuang, Vice President, Dr. Chu-Hsiung Lin, Vice President, Dr. Shu-Tan Lin, and Dean of OICC Dr. I-Jane Weng welcomed incoming international students to Wenzao with remarks that wished them a fulfilling and wonderful exchange semester with unforgettable memories and experiences in Wenzao.

This semester, 75 international exchange students from 10 partner universities in England, France, Germany, the United States, China, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, and Belgium are going to study at Wenzao. Among them, 13 are from Kobe Gakuin University in Japan, and they are all looking forward to their language and professional studies at Wenzao while experiencing diverse cultures and cuisines in Taiwan.


During the orientation, the President of Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, Dr. Hwei-Lin Chuang, expressed her hope that all the students from different countries and regions would enjoy their exchange semester at Wenzao whole heartily and actively participate in various activities, which will surely bring them joyful and unforgettable memories.


Dr. I-Jane Weng, the Dean of the Office of International & Cross-strait Cooperation (OICC), also welcomed the international exchange students with a Q&A session and gave them little gifts as rewards for answering questions. She also encouraged the exchange students to go out as much as they could and get to know Taiwanese local cultures while studying Chinese.


To help the exchange students to adapt to and integrate smoothly into their study life at school, the Section of Overseas Students (SOSA) of OICC also arranged a lunchtime for all the international exchange students to meet their departmental coordinators and know that they could seek assistance from them in addition to their classmates and volunteer students from SOSA during their days at Wenzao. After the meal, SOSA volunteers brought the international exchange students on a campus tour to get to know the campus of Wenzao before the new semester started.


The orientation also featured a presentation in English by Mr. Yuan-li Zeng and Mr. Chia-Rong Tsai from Kaohsiung’s First Service Station of the Immigration Bureau, and Miss. A Wenzao’s Student Counseling Center psychologist, Meng-Jie Fang had a Gender Equality Education Advocacy.


Through the orientation and welcome event, the international exchange students had a wonderful first experience at Wenzao. Sand, a Thai student from HTWG Konstanz in Germany, said that she felt the warmth of teachers and students on her first day at Wenzao and was expecting her study life to get more interaction with Taiwanese students.
