Liberal arts students venturing into the semiconductor industry is no longer a dream! Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages (WZU) has established a partnership with ASE, Inc. and signed a memorandum of industry-academic cooperation and academic exchanges. Together, the two parties will develop liberal arts students’ interdisciplinary learning abilities and future job competitiveness, helping Taiwan create more internationalized high-tech industry professionals.
Hwei-Lin Chuang, the president of WZU, and Lee Shu-Hsia, the deputy general manager of the Human Resources Department at ASE Group’ Kaohsiung plant, signed the memorandum at the memorandum-singing ceremony. The collaboration will focus on faculty–student study-related exchanges, industry expert co-teaching, and interdisciplinary cooperation projects, where they will jointly organize student internships, courses, camps, and training programs as well as hold academic, educational seminars and exhibitions.
WZU and the ASE Group have already cooperated on various endeavors including course lectures, student internships, and university and corporate social responsibility (USR and CSR) projects. In fact, dozens of WZU alumni are currently being employed at the ASE Group and have demonstrated remarkable job performance. ASE, Inc. values WZU’s abilities to develop talented students, noting that the students not only receive WZU’s solid foreign language training but also possess interdisciplinary and cross-cultural knowledge and skills. Future cooperation between WZU and ASE, Inc. will be oriented towards talent development and employment matchmaking, allowing students to accumulate practical experiences to better understand current industry situations. These efforts will bring theories and practice together, achieving the goal of uniting schools and industries.
In response to the rapidly changing world, WZU is actively enhancing its students’ practical skills through course design adjustments, extracurricular activity planning, and internship mechanism establishment, seamlessly transitioning students from schools to workplaces. Wenzao continues to offer “High-Tech Industry Talent Training Courses” to meet market demands, help students connect with the high-tech industry, and develop talented international, professional students for the country. WZU students possess excellent cross-cultural communication skills and expertise in digital, business management, and new media marketing, making them highly sought-after talents by businesses.
