Liberal arts students can also build a career in high-tech industries! Ling Tang, a graduate student at the Department of Translation and Interpreting of Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, was invited to participate in the 2023 YST Forum as one of the first speakers of the event. Ling Tang shared her experience of learning about science and semiconductors from the perspective of interdisciplinary education. In addition, she also talked about methods to incorporate AI into one’s learning activities.
My AI and Future is the theme of YST Meetup! this year. The event brought together four guests from MediaTek, National Tsing Hua University, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages; all of whom were invited to share their experiences. Aside from giving a detailed introduction about the practical applications of AI in businesses, they also spoke about previous AI-related occupations as well as their impression and opinions regarding said work. Their speeches were met with excitement from the audience, with a total of 65 students and professionals from different regions, fields of expertise, and educational backgrounds in attendance during the entirety of the session.
Ling Tang was the only speaker with language-related expertise during the event. She talked about her growth since participating in the training course for talents in the high-technology industry last April when Wenzao Ursuline University held it for the first time. Ling Tang also spoke about the remarkable science-related learning and life experience that her admittance to National Sun Yat-sen University’s “Semiconductor Nano Device & TFT Display Lab” had brought into her life. At the end of her speech, Ling Tang received enthusiastic responses from the audience, each of whom displayed incredible fascination for her unique experiences.
A number of professors who attended the event as members of the audience also offered their own feedback. They praised Ling Tang for her enthusiasm for learning about the semiconductor field and the fruitful results of her study. The YST Meetup! event came to an end with an exciting interactive session with members of the audience. That being said, it has brought about new perspectives for both fields of science and engineering as well as liberal arts.
